Skills and Capabilities

RELIABLE SKILLS

Meropa Drilling seeks to assure every level of operations
and ensure a high-quality result by using reputable houses
to oversee each step of a project. The locally-based drilling
operations and professional skills (e.g. geological, geo-technical,
engineering and hydro-geological) contributing to projects boast
many years of both local and international mining experience.
Among these skills are comprehensive data collection and
analysis, which enable the production of relevant models, e.g.
geological and structural, rock mass, hydro-geological and,
ultimately, geo-technical models, on which the design is based.

PROJECT EXECUTION AND DELIVERABLES

Meropa Drilling generates schedules stipulating specific daily,
weekly, and monthly targets according to the client’s requirement
and project scope. These targets will include total meters drilled,
chips/core logged, QA/QC on the logging information, electronic data
capturing, and relevant database updates. Completing all targets within
their set time frames is of utmost importance.
Part of Meropa Drilling’s exceptional service delivery is to provide
routine client updates by way of reports and presentations. This
ensures that progress is checked to align with and fulfill the original
objectives of a project. Updates also assist in clearing budget overruns
or client concerns. Monthly progress reports benefit the accuracy
and tracking of a project. This process is imperative in delivering a
high-quality project completion result. Reports include safety and
environment assessments, as well as a description of mitigation's put in
place to ensure a safe working area for the project team.

ON-SITE TRAINING AND SKILLS DEVELOPMENT

Meropa Drilling ensures the collection of accurate and reliable data
through the on-site training geo-technical engineers involved in a project.
This will serve to familiarize them with project-specific geological units
and geo-technical zones, as well as any additional client requirement.
Trainers are selected based on their experience and familiarity with the
operation. A trainer is often of a Senior Geo-tech Engineer’s level and
holds a valid membership of a professional body.

Meropa Drilling recognizes that many graduates of mining schools, need training before
becoming future employees of or service providers for the mining industry.  Meropa Drilling
will, through its diligent service provision, partake in preparing and nurturing some of these
students to become fully-fledged professionals. Not only does this incentive encourage
professional growth, it also complements the Government of Botswana’s job creation and
skills development drive.

Meropa Drilling aspires to be part of the broader inclusion of citizens in the mining and
drilling industry, while also influencing key decisions and outcomes. The team is eager to do
well for this great country.

MINE SERVICE CAPABILITIES

Mine services holes performed are often mine critical, like resource upgrading in an
active mine and sub-horizontal de-watering drilling. Meropa Drilling’s operations team
works together with the client to identify and develop the appropriate methodology to
ensure a safe, timely and efficient outcome.
Exploration Drilling is used in the mineral mining sector to confirm and upgrade
the contents of known ore deposits or to explore sites for potential geological or
commercial value:

• Geo-technical drilling services
• Horizontal (sub-horizontal) in pit de-watering
• Large diameter holes
• Mine service holes for water
• Rotary Core Drilling
• Production water bore
